Some of you might have some background knowledge or maybe some bsic foundation in music and could compose songs,so do share with us,what are the songs you have composed, and maybe tell us what's the song about.Songs are rather interesting, although they are just mere words, but there are lots of meaning to it,and one could not belittle such meaning.

I've always wanted to compose a song but maybe I dont have musical talents. Cant seem to get anything out. Lyrics wise I think I'll have no problem. Its the tunes.

If i'm not wrong,it's music elective.Actually wanted to take that, but didn't have the chance because i'm already tied down to the amount of subjects I have. But music composition is talking about style. You realise the styles are something that tells you apart from the rest.

Lucky you! If only they had music as a subject during my time. I would have aced it hands down! Yeah I do compose songs but my songs are all very depressing. Its easier to compose a sad song than a happy one eh?

er actually its not as easy as you think. i scored distinctions for the ABRSM grade 1 - 5 theory exams, but always only get a C grade for music in school. i guess this is maybe due to them concentrating more on the descriptive kind of answers, essay questions and those listen & analyse type of questions.

At least you did have a certain grade with you, better than me,I only have practical certs from trinity, didn't really focus much on theory. On top of that, learnt music for 12 yrs,but didn't finish my practically, still in the progress though.

He must have put lots of effort in it,sometimes if you are willing to practice, normally you would do well.I wonder if I can ever reach diploma,if I can reach ATCL,I think I would be very happy, but for now, reaching my Violin Grade 8 would be my target.

Yeah. Cause string instruments got the amount of force on pulling the string / applied and which part of the string. Lalala. Forgive me for these layman's terms cause I am an idiot when it comes to music though I have always wanted to have a piece of my own. But I don't have knowledge in any instruments at all so I cant really compose my own tune. And that makes the lyrics part hard too, in a way.

Perhaps we both have different views, but it's ok.Just would like to share mine.Understanding the situation from an atomistic point of view.Breaking up the learning points of the instruments. For piano, the score is there, perhaps just practicing of fingersing would do,but they would not need to listen much. They might need to listen, but the notes are "assumed" to be correct.Unless the piano goes out of tune itself. However for strings, the strings itself would require a huge amount of listening skills on top of bowing and finger movement.Just based on my observations, you might not agree on it,but it's ok,everyone's thinking would be different. However I do agree on you saying practice makes perfection.Cheers.
