Some people do concern about their money going into the singers' pocket, some just borrow the songs from their friend's CD and rip it into their MP3.Do you go for the original CDs?What are the reason that cause you to go for originals?the bonus tracks?Do share your thoughts.

one simple reasoning: if you like the artiste, you should buy their albums to support them, and not get their songs illegally and cause them to lose more money than they spent on creating their albums.

that is still, and is, definitely piracy. afterall, you possess the songs but not the original material, so yeah, it is not supporting originality at all.

If i never recall wrongly, there's this news about some country having 2 dogs to sniff out pirated Cds,I wonder how do they ever do that. This might be one of their moves to "eliminate" piracy in their country.

well dogs can be an effective way of sniffing out pirated CDs, since pirated CDs are in a different packaging; paper used to print the album cover on could be of a different quality and type, they should have a different "smell".

Maybe, but with the country using such measures,i think they did show some effort in wiping them out.But one thing for sure is that the mentality won't be wiped out.I think the root of the problem does not lie in these people who sell them, but it's the people who buy them.

yep you're right. As the chinese saying goes, "tou teng yi tou, jiao teng yi jiao", if we get to the root of the problem and nip it in the bud once and for all, the problem of piracy should become not so rampant in the future anymore.

But i think to cut of this root,it's rather tough,it's human nature that they would go for something that is cheap, but is it good or not,we can't confirm.

appeal to the music industry to lower the cost price of music CDs then =) but i dun think they will ever do that, and i think it is one of the things they can do to reduce piracy.

True, and i think it woud also attract people to go for original, but because the cost of producing the original CD is high, that's why it cost so much.Just my guess

Nope. The cost price of producing any kind of CDs is actually only around S$1. It is the content that is expensive. Hope they can reduce the price of the content from $19 to around $14.

I think there are CDs that are sold at 9.90,not sure if they r considered pirated by I do see them around CD shops.
